The region is widely known to be inhabitant of various tribes and their wide ranging culture, music and craft. It is one of the most ancient enclaves in India. Various communities in Bastar still follow age-old traditions and customs. These tribes have got symbiotic relationship with the forests. The life style of these primitive tribes and beautiful landscape, make Bastar a must visit place on the tourist's itinerary. It's an area travelled by WV Grigson, Thomson and Verrier Elwin, the great anthropologists from Europe, When East India Company ruled India before independence.
