The word bioinformatics is derived from biology and informatics; the discipline of bioinformatics is rightly identified as a combination of computer science and biology. It is a computer-assisted interface discipline dealing with the acquisition, storage, management, and access and processing of molecular biology data. This discipline helps us to collect, compile, analyze, process and represent the information in order to understand processes of life, health, disease status and find new processes or better drugs delivery system for genes, drugs and other genetic components for life improvement and to educate oneself. It is an interdisciplinary scientific tool without barriers among various disciplines of science like biology, mathematics, and computer science and information technology.

Bioinformatics also helps in digitizing the information available on paper or in the form of a specimen, so that with the help of the internet it could be easily available to everyone, everywhere. These days, the computer is an important part of every research without which so fast a development cannot be imagined. Moreover, these days it is important to keep everyone aware of current developments. This will enable everyone to enhance their academic and research skills in their fields at minimum expanse of time, money, and matters. In this scenario, bioinformatics makes information readily available by collecting, linking, and manipulating.

Briefly, bioinformatics is playing a vital role in the development of society by providing quick information and making research fast. It is using today\'s computer technology and biological research together very efficiently. This field is going to generate more opportunities in future for all people working in different areas. Sensing the importance, this book has been written to give a clear cut picture on the subject, and also help the subject experts to keep abreast of the latest developments, in the field of bioinformatics.
