“Ecotourism as a phenomenon is different from the traditional tourism formula of sea, sand and sun. it represents an adventure, a learning opportunity, conservation and a spiritual experience within nature. To fully realize these objectives the facility must also depart from traditional formulae. Tourism is one of the world’s fastest growing industries, and has been identified as a means of generating national income in less industrialized economies. Like other countries, Thailand has promoted tourism as a major source of national income. However, tourism has had some destructive effects, not only at a national but also at a local level.”(jacket)
