The Employee Welfare measures were emphasized in the year 1931, and the resolution passed by the Indian National Congress on fundamental rights and economic programmes. The resolutions demanded in country every organization as sportive to the economic life, principles of justice and secure decent standard living. And safeguard the interest of the workers and secure by law and order with a living wage, good working conditions, number of working hours and suitable machinery to settle the disputes between employer and employee. Further it also emphasize on old age pension, medical benefits, sickness facilities and unemployment.
These welfare measures primarily a question of adequate nutrition and working conditions, suitable housing, transportation, canteen conditions. The working conditions should be safeguards his health and protect him against occupational hazards. The work place would provide reasonable amenities for his essential required needs. The welfare measures may help in developing the personality of employees and motivate to create efficient, loyal and satisfied labor force for the organization.
The present work deals with the welfare impact on the labor force and its value and relevance to society, and examine the nature, procedure and implementation of health, safety and welfare provisions in this selected unit. The public sector how best it is maintaining the standards in implementation, procedures to satisfying the employees regarding health, safety and welfare in the organization as prescribed in the Factory Act 1948.
