This field guide is aimed for identification and further studies on amphibians and reptiles of Punjab. The species account dealt in this book covers more than 50 species of amphibians and reptiles together. This herpetological work is first of its kind from the region. Many species discussed in this book are also found in adjoining states/union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan and even in neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. This field guide will be helpful in studying herpetofauna of these regions as well. An annotated checklist of herpetofauna of the state of Punjab has been sufficed in the book. A special section regarding suggested readings relates to authentic literature sources cited/consulted covering taxonomy, systematics, ecology, biogeography and natural history of amphibians and reptiles. Each species account is formatted with scientific name, common name, taxon authority, measurements and description of concise ecology. This book is hoped to be useful for wildlife enthusiasts, biology scholars, researchers, doctors and general publication as source of information on these lesser known yet important animals.
