In this volume the authors have described all 18 species of skink found in Eastern and North-eastern India in a single format, and also catalogued all the skink specimens from this vast area, present in the collections of the Zoological Survey India, Kolkata. The authors have also tried to include whatever is known about their live colour, habits, habitat, food, breeding behavior, distribution and status so that researchers, students and the interested layman can know something about these interesting lizards they see everyday around their homes.
