Textbook of Organic Chemistry: Vol.I

The Textbook of Organic Chemistry Volume I has been written with a aim of meeting the needs of first year students of B.Sc (Hons.) and B.Sc. (Pass) of various Indian Universities. The contents are as per recommendations of the University Grants Commission.

Volume I deals with seven topics. These are Structure and Bonding, Mechanism of Organic Reactions, Stereochemistry of Organic Compounds, Alkanes and Cycloalkanes, Alkenes, Cycloalkenes, Dienes and Alkynes, Arenes and Aromaticity and Alkyl and Aryl Halides. Special emphasis has been given to relative and absolute configuration, sequence rules, D & L and R & S system of nomenclature. In all chapters IUPAC system of nomenclature is given. At the end of each chapter, a set of problems are given. The lucid language and well presented concepts will be of immense help to the students for a clear understanding of the subject.(jacket)
