Beginning with an outstanding article by Prof. Pfalzgraf (France) entitled "Designing Molecules for Functions: From Homo- and Hetero-metallic Alkoxides to Advanced Oxides", there are a number of other highly informative and innovative contributions on glycolate, polyoxoalkoxide, nitrophenolate and b-diketonate derivatives of variety of metallic elements by outstanding leaders of research scholars in the country.

The term "Allied Derivatives" used in the title of book has been rather liberally interpreted to include biologically relevant pyrazolyl, thiosemi-carbazones and dithiocarbazides, tellurides as well as other interesting aspects dealing with tellurium, dialkylene dithiophosphate, phosphazene and quinolate derivatives, including a highly exciting account of recent advances in the chemistry of subvalent compounds of Ge, Sn and Pb by the foremost organometallic chemist Prof. M.F. Lappert, FRS.
