The Garuda Purana

The Puranas are eighteen in numbers. Sage Veda Vyasa composed them. There are references to epics and Puranas in the Vedic texts and also in the Sutra texts of Apasthamba, Gauthama and others. Many of the previous Puranas are extinct now and only those are available which are composed the Veda Vyasa.

In Garuda Puranam Lord Vishnu himself narrated this to his vehicle Garuda. Methods to worship, feasts and ceremonies are described. It is also describes about the soul after death, funeral rites, medicine etc. (jacket)
