"Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) is one of the most important and widely used general schemes of library classification. The scheme is being taught both in theory and practice at Master's degree level in the Indian library schools and most of the foreign schools as well as especially in the European continent.
Access devices such as aims and objectives, introduction, section and subsection headings, self check exercises, summaries, model answers to self check exercises and lastly assignments have been provided to help the learner to comprehend the theory and practice of UDC (IME-93). An effort has been made to achieve continuous flow of thought between the blocks and units under each block so as to communicate to the learner, the relevance and relationship of different units and of various and practical aspects of UDC."
