"This book has been designed as a introductory text which looks into the importance of value education and human right education. Value education often tends to be neglected in most schools, especially in contemporary times where the rapidly changing social context tends to negatively scrutinise the effectiveness of these values and their needs. Human rights education too is sidelined quite often, considering that many hold these rights unattainable in a world where poverty, famine and war still threaten the existence of millions of people, or even in those countries where constitutional rights are respected by the police and enforced by the courts.
