The Book “Women Status in India and Empowering Them Through Education” explains many dimensions of women in the context of education, employment and empowerment. Special emphasis has been laid to explain the socio-economic and political condition of women, specially the disadvantaged rural women and the data is based on Filed Work. Women empowerment through education is the real way to exercise the philosophy of 3 Hs, i.e. Head (brainpower), Heart (humanity) and Hand (working capacity) in order to justify the knowledge, uprooting gender disparities in the socio-economic and political field and the employment or for economic resources.

This book aims to provide a comprehensive study of women empowerment through education which will enable them a greater degree of self confidence, a sense of independence and capability to resist discrimination and inequalities imposed by the male dominated chauvinistic society and to realize their full potential and power in the changing perception of socio-economic and political role at the threshold of the new millennium.

Confined to women and women-related issues, the book makes a concreted effort to present the status of Indian women against the ever-changing social, economic, political and academic backgrounds. It also provides a deep insight into their educational status, their contribution in organized and unorganized sectors, political participation, legal status, their position in the family and outside world etc. and all these data are field-work-based.

It is hoped that this book is a worthy contribution to the Indian society, planners, scholars and women in general to identify their future course.(jacket)
