The work holds great importance among Jain canonical literature. Composed in Anushtup metre with 1008 verses in twelve prakasas and several appendices, this has been presented here after being critically edited on the basis of the manuscripts from the libraries of Khambhat, Jaisalmer, Patan, etc., accompanied by commentary of Shri Hemachandrasuriji Maharaja himself in 12000 verses. For the advancement in life and moving ahead on the true path, one requires several virtues. In Yogasastram, all these virtues, for example, controlled life, devotion towards parents, meditation for knowledge, philosophy and conduct, truth and non-violence, ref-lection about the nature of the Self and the world, mantropasana meditation, etc., have been included among the parts of the Yoga itself. Yogashastra contains the essence of all previous Agamic treatises and mysteries of Yogic exercises, which have been termed as the synthesis of eight limbs in Patnajala Yogasutras. Therefore, it can be really acknow-ledged that Sri Hemacandra-suriji Maharaja has composed a great work for the development of meritorious deeds and meditation among human beings.
