Starting with a overview of the state, elaborates Gujarati language, literature and early printing activity in Gujarat.
Beginning with early libraries gives a detailed account of library movement in various princely states with emphasis on the state of Baroda. Describes the library system in the parent day Gujarat with a brief description of library legislation in the state.
Briefly describes the century old public libraries, as well as, academic and special libraries. Lists of libraries under each category are appended. Also discusses the activities of information centers and networks based in Gujarat.
Library education, library associations, library journals and biographical account of librarians were also given.
