From the Foreword: "The author aims to discuss the relationship of temple architecture to sculptures and vice-versa through his dissertation entitled \'Architecture of North Indian Temples (c. 400-1000 AD)\' with glossary, bibliography and beautiful illustrations. He has divided the subject matter in seven chapters.

Detailed description of sculptures associated with temples was naturally beyond his scope. Dr. Singh seems to be correct in describing the architecture of c. seventh century AD as a link between two styles of temple architecture, which flourished during the times of the Imperial Guptas and the Gurjara-Pratiharas. He has nicely discussed the Pratihara temples region wise, namely those of Central India, Rajasthan and the Himalayan region."
