Atavika is the felicitation volume on Dr Baba Mishra, well known historian and archaeologist who retired on May 2019 after more than three decades of Teaching and Research career in the Govt. College Autonomous (Now Kalahandi University) during which, he proved his mettle as a teacher, researcher, research supervisor, organiser, explorer, excavator, interpreter and administrator. His Curriculum Vitae appended with the volume substantiate it. 

Tel river valley material remains indeed stands for the 'Forest Civilization' of mankind. Atavikas, the forest people who had build civilization and culture of high order on the basin of the Tel and the Indravati during the 4th /3rd cent, BCE to the 5th century CE. Dr Mishra's untiring research on it cannot be ignored.
