The author has made a critical study of the school and non-school factor i.e. home environment, sex and socio-economic status etc. affecting the development of positive attitude towards science. Researches in science education have to be reviewed since the rate at which knowledge is increasing is tremendous and hence teaching should be on the development of abilities and disposition of mind rather a merely the transfer of dead subject matter. Researches in education should be urgently addressed to the problem of developing positive attitudes towards science in the education. Thus, science teaching should primarily be concerned with the education of the mind rather than acquisition of isolated pieces of scientific knowledge. Effective school environment, effective home environment, watching scientific programmes on TV and goals of life to become scientist are such factors which help in the development of positive attitude towards science."
