B.R. Ambedkar: Life, Work and Relevance

"Until a few years ago our scholars evinced hardly any interest in either Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar or his work. A biographical sketch here or a hagiographical tribute there were all that could be counted as `Ambedkariana`. It was only in 1990-91 when the V.P. Singh government decided to celebrate his birth centenary that serious writings began to appear. Their perusal however shows, that though some of these writings have been done ably and faithfully, yet an Ambedkar, as full and complete as he was, has not reached us.The present work comprising contributions by specialists on his life, work and relevance is a serious endeavour to fill this gap."
