"The third Bangladesh-India dialogue for young leaders reaffirmed the belief that good relations between the neighbours would play a pivotal role in working for a stable and constructive environment in South Asia. The discussion sessions organised by Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) in January 2006 brought together journalists, academics and Members of Parliament from across the political spectrum from both the countries. This volume presents seven thematic papers, each indicative both of current problems and future opportunities between the two countries. The focus was to assess how far there is to go, in re-imaging the national, regional and global forces with which India-Bangladesh cooperation has to be juxtaposed for a genuinely cooperative relationship.
The topics covered range from geo-politics of cooperation, the perceptions of foreign policy and the scope for regional and sub-regional policy initiatives, to water sharing and inter river linking to the Indo-Bangladesh border problems and security perceptions.
This book will be invaluable for students and scholars of history, politics and international relations. The volume should be also be of interest to the policy makers and other stakeholders who wish to develop insight into intricate areas of discord between Bangladesh and India and the possible resolutions suggested by the young minds."
