Bhavaprakasa Nighantu of Bhavamisra: Authentic Text with English Translation and Notes
In ayurveda Ausadhi' (Drugs) palys an important role, physicians during treatment should possess thorough knowledge of Ausadi's (drugs), these came into existence from the time of Vedas especially Rigveda and Atharvaveda. The knowledge of drugs, preparations, uses etc are described durning Samhita period. Later nighantu have described Aushadis with their synonyms, properties and their uses in further comprehensive manner. Acharya Bhavamisra is one amongst the laghutrayas composed a classical work Bhavaprakasa, portion of this work popularly know as Bhavaprakah nighantu which includes 426 drugs in 23 vargas. It is considered to be the best amongst the existing works enhance exceedingly regarding various medicinal plant species, including Ahara vargas and Anekata varga.
In the present era research scholars engaged in constant research activities for invention of efficious and inexpensive treatment from plants.
I have assembled various aspects following different good texts written by various scholars in different languages. My attempt is made to make this work comprehensive.
This translated work deals with thorough information about nomenclature, morphology, species information, therepeautic uses, controversial aspects of various drugs, Ahara vargas etc.
