Border Trade in North-East India: A Politico-Economic Perspective

The North East Region shares only about 2% of its border with mainland India and the remaining 98% is with neighbouring countries like China, Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Hence the Significance and relevance of border trade with its neighbours of the region cannot be overruled because it can serve as an engine of growth for the trading partners.
