Breeding Frontiers in Wheat

The present book 'Breeding Frontiers in Wheat' covers different aspects of modern wheat improvement approaches along with historic developments and major milestones in wheat breeding science that led humankind to wheat self-sufficiency and eventually global food security. In selecting the topics for this book on wheat, we have attempted to cover a wide range that includes history, evolution and domestication, germplasm conservation and utilization, breeding approaches and milestones achieved for biotic and abiotic stresses resistance, utilization of heterosis, nutrient use efficiency, seed production and supply system, nutrition and quality, biofortification, processing, constituent chemistry and functionality, biotechnology and genome editing. The book has dedicated chapters focused on the latest developments on major frontiers in wheat breeding including breeding for biotic stresses such as rusts, powdery mildew, wheat blast, aphids and abiotic stresses such as drought, heat, salinity and nitrogen use efficiency.
