Capacity building is an emerging concept applied to the revamping and restructuring of any kind of organizational set up all across the world. Application has generated a tremendous impact upon the efficient and effective operation of their activities. The non-government organizations, which are result-oriented enterprises, are utilizing the concept of capacity building more and more for their overall growth and development. Management experts have also considered the concept of capacity building as the most effective tool in developing an enterprise. Hence the concept holds good in present day development scenario.

In the emerging technological environment the libraries need to develop various systems and services for which the greater need for manpower, infrastructure, finance, ICT applications, collection building, services, resource sharing, digitization, open access initiatives, institutional repositories, electronic publishing, networking, and continuing education activities are to be strengthened. However the most important aspect is the concept of managing men in library and information centers. In effective operation of library activities the concept of capacity building appears to be a successful management mantra for libraries. In order to explore the new avenues of the concept of capacity building, an academic seminar was organized, the culmination of which is the reproduction of this book which is the collection of papers presented by various authors.
