"In the mid sixties Green Revolution in India necessitated the publication of journals, news papers, periodicals etc., alongwith electronic media in regional languages for speedy dissemination of farm technologies to the farming community, extension functionaries and others engaged in agricultural development.
Media has played a valuable role in promoting scientific agriculture and rural development. Various means of communication like news paper, magazines, radio, TV, film and internet also have been playing a vital role in accelerating national development concomitant with economic prosperity of the country..
The major objective of journalism is to communicate the feasible farm technologies in such a manner to attract the attention of farmers, help them to understand easily and recall the message as and when needed and ultimately facilitate them to take appropriate decision.
With the rapid strides in agricultural science virtually there is an information explosion which is a challenge for IT tools to push the technology process. Knowledge expansion, information technology, and information dissemination are the important dimensions of development system.
The authors have made valuable efforts to bring together the aspects of farm journalism, cyber extension and transfer of technology under one umbrella. The book systematically presents the recent developments in the area of journalism and media management for scientists, research workers, student community, NGOs and policy makers."
