"The study "Conflict Management in Libraries" is an attempt to understand conflict, its genesis and various methods applied by the library professionals in libraries to manage the conflict. The aim of the study is to investigate about the styles of subordinates, adopted by the library professionals. Conflict management in libraries is interdisciplinary in nature drawing from the discipline of sociology, psychology, management, organizational behaviour and library and information science. The study will be of help to the library professionals with valuable insights into their conflict management strategies.

A good number of studies of conflict management have been conducted on industrial employees, managers, engineers and executives. But, no study in-depth is available on library professionals in India.

Needless to say, the study is aimed to be a pioneering one which draws heavily on earlier such studies undertaken by thinkers in the area of behavioural studies, investigates and integrates with the contemporary situations pertaining to management of conflict in library systems." (jacket)
