Peace denied anywhere, it is said, poses a threat everywhere. If peace is so important, why does conflict pervade the third world countries? While this query animates the discussion in Countries in Conflict, another curiosity that the volume takes up for rumination is whether peace can be processed. The study, in that context, identifies twelve components presenting case studies in a global perspective of fifty countries. The approach adopted is structural and the focus is on the decade-long People’s War waged by the Maoists in Nepal. Enriched by updated information and anchored by a conceptual framework, the analysis offers a national agenda for peace at the end for policy intervention to resolve the nation’s crisis.
