Development of North East India: Emerging Policy Issues is an initiative of the UGC-SAP-DRS II, Department of Economics, Tripura University (A Central University) under its focal theme of ‘Economic Development of North East India’. The present volume covers the development issues of all the North-eastern states of India. The major thrust areas have been economic development, infrastructure, economic activities and livelihood, women empowerment and gender issues, as well as development policy issues of the North East. The book sincerely attempts to explain the economic performance of the NE states by incorporating in-depth state-specific studies keeping in mind the diversified nature and structure of the NER. The present volume is a manifestation of the increasing research interest of the academia in the economy of Northeast India. The book is expected to generate fruitful insights among the social science researchers, development practitioners and policymakers to duly understand the emerging policy issues for inclusive development of the North-eastern region of India.
