The present book examines the pre and post economic conditions of displaced people in the light of a case study by taking into account a medium irrigation project in western Orissa. An extensive review of literature on the issue of displacement relating to big projects has been carried out on various aspects of displacement. So the project undertaken as a case study can not be undermining as a medium irrigation project. Displacement is after all displacement, weather caused by large or small project. The treatment towards the displaced people is more or less similar in all projects. The author has taken due care to relate the issues of displacement due to this medium project with other cases of displacement of India and the state of Orissa.
