This book takes an holistic approach, in trying to understand complexity of both tourism and the environment and the relationship that exits between them. Consequently, the book adopts a multidisciplinary stance to the investigation of this relationship and should be of interest to a range of students studying under the aegis of social science. The perspectives used in this book come from the disciplines of geography, sociology, social psychology and economics, as well as the fields of environment, development and tourism studies. Its main purpose is to provide an introductory text for undergraduate students to the concepts and themes that govern this interaction.
