From the foreword: "The exhibition on the "Right to Health" with its numerous and diverse photographs, paintings and cartoons around this subject display a vast multitude of perceptions, feelings and opinions of the Bangladeshi people, more than could be expressed in many written pages.

The People\'s Republic of Bangladesh has acknowledged the fundamental right of the population to health by enshrining in its constitution the governmental obligation to provide basic necessities of life, including medical care to its citizens as well as the duty to improve the public health.

Much remains to be done to achieve this ambitious objective. However, over the years considerable efforts have been undertaken to improve and translate the right to health to a reality that can be touched and seen. The Government of Bangladesh has set up a National Human Rights Commission, issued the right to information act and health facilities in the country are displaying the citizens charter, spelling out the rights and entitlements of the citizens to health services as well as the obligation by the provider. Thus, the accountability of the public services towards the people becomes more transparent. This exhibition evokes will be a fruitful one, which will ultimately increase the awareness of the people of Bangladesh about their right to health."
