"This is a research book and the material contained therein is based on the survey conducted by the author. The findings of the study has utility for policy makers, administrators, researchers, teachers and all other stakeholders involved in the field of management of technical education. The study recommends that extension services need to be made an integral part of technical education in the country and such a measure would help promote quality, generate revenue, enhance corporate linkages, facilitate the process of technology transfer and thereby add practical orientation to technical education. Strategies for promotion of extension services include developing faculty as well as organizations for handling such activities in institutions. The existing framework in which technical institutions function need to be suitably modified to create a facilitating environment wherein competent and willing faculty for extension activities is available and organizational system permits for taking institutional functions beyond its formally defined boundaries. The study highlights the need, status and strategies for extension services in technical education.
