"Basaveswara\'s life life passed through three stages: one, the Agrahara-culture of Bagewadi; two, the temple-culture of Kudala-Sangama and three, the palace-culture of Kalyana. All through those stages he grew from the static to the dynamic level and by transforming the former into the latter. He progressed from Karma to Dharma in Bagewadi; from the physical to the spiritual in Kudala-Sangama and from the spiritual to the social in Kalyana. Basaveswara, who faced the problems arising in the first two environments, came to the third environment, where he was tortured by the triple force. "
