This is the first comprehensive account on the Flora of Govind Pashu Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary which is situated in the Western Himalayas and also significant component of the snow leopard conservation areas in India. Western Himalayas and together with Eastern Himalaya which is one of the largest centre of endemism in India is among the 34 biodiversity hot spots of the world. Systematic account of 819 species, 7 subspecies, and 13 varieties belonging to 473 genera under 125 families of angiosperms includes a few cultivated species. Gymnosperms are represented by 10 species, 7 genera and 3 families. Pteridophytes represented by 24 species, of which 22 Ferns and 02 Fern allies belonging to 14 genera under 08 families have also been recorded. 2 maps and 4 tables representing various data in connection with the present work are also given 136 colour photographs in 17 photo plates depicting habits, ecology, vegetation, etc. are provided. 6 new records to the state of Uttarakhand, over 15 endemic species and 39 threatened plants have been collected from the study area, of these 10 species are critically endangered, 13 species are endangered, 9 species are vulnerable, and 7 species are least concern. Updated nomenclature for flowering plants along with synonyms, relevant citations, local names, detailed taxonomic descriptions, phenology ecological notes and nomenclatural notes are provided.
