"Many of the problems that occur in an organization are the direct result of people failing to communicate. Faulty communication causes the most problems. It leads to confusion and can cause a good plan to fail. Communication is the exchange and flow of information and ideas from the person to another. It involves a sender transmitting an idea to a receiver, effective communication occurs only if the receiver understands the exact information or idea that the sender intended to transmit. Studying the communication process is important because you coach, coordinate, counsel, evaluate, and supervise through this process. It is the chain of understanding that integrates the members of an organization from top to bottom, bottom to top and side to side.
All forms of communication require a sender, a message, and an intended recipient, however, the receiver need not be present or aware of the sender\'s intent to communicate at the time of communication in order for the act of communication to occur. Communication requires that all parties have area of communicative commonality. There are auditory means, such as speech, song, and tone of voice, and there are non-verbal means, such as body language, sign language, paralanguage, touch, eyt contact, through media, i.e. pictures,. graphics and sound and writing."
