Social work is a vast subject which mainly involves ameliorating social problems such as poverty, child labour, domestic violence and homelessness. It is both a profession and social science, which involves the application of social theory and research methods to study and improve the lives of people, groups and societies. As the world has shrink into a global village and everything is available with the click of a mouse the multi-opportunities in social work will generate employment opportunities for social workers. Some social workers work as psychotherapists, counselors, psychiatric social workers, or mental health practitioners, often working in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists or other medical professionals.
