"Tourism is the sunrise industry of the present century. Today tourism is the world\'s fastest growing industry. This industry provides both monetary gains and social benefits. It is a smokeless industry which does not harm environment like other industries.

India being one of the most sought after destinations in the world, the potential of the industry as a foreign exchange earner is well-known. No tourist coming to India have a thorough acquaintance with this country unless he has been gone to the historic land of Bihar and visited the picturesque plateau of Chotanagpur (Jharkhand) which is popularly known as "Tourists\' Paradise".

Bihar and Jharkhand abounds in tourism potential in all spheres, be it historical and cultural, be it hills and forests and other places of scenic beauty, be it wildlife, be it hot springs or be it fairs, festivals and people. But its vast potential has not so far been fully exploited.

The two states are a vivid kaleidoscope of landscapes. Side by side with the country\'s staggering topographical variations is its cultural diversity. Yet another facet of Indian culture is observed in the colourful tribal lifestyles, of the Jharkhand state." (jacket)
