The present volume of papers by a galaxy of scholars is dedicated to the memory of the eminent art historian, Dr. Haripriya Rangarajan, who made an invaluable contribution to the field of Indian art, iconography and architecture. She left an intangible mark as an expert especially in the field of Indian iconography.
The volume contains essays on different aspects of Indian art and iconography, providing insights into the development of Indian art through the ages, and incorporating new research on the subject. The thirty thematic essays in the volume include many by senior and very illustrious scholars as well as some by younger researchers who are now making their mark. The essays unfold many layers of Indian art and imagery and traverse religious, cultural and temporal boundaries, bringing together a variety of themes on Indian art, architecture and iconography.
