Dr. P.K. Dandasena, having served in the Department of History of Government Autonomous College, Bhawanipatna, Odisha for more than two decades, retired from Government Service on 31st December 2013. Students and teachers of the Department felt it necessary to publish a felicitation volume on him. Thirteen articles on diverse topics of Orissa history and culture, ably drafted by our young faculties and senior scholars are selected for this volume. Papers are arranged chronologically as far as possible notwithstanding a big sequential hiatus among different topics belonging to the ancient, medieval and modern Odisha history and culture.
The volume thus deals with ancient fort settlement technology, political aspect, fairs and festivals, temple architecture, economic condition, personalities of modern Odisha. Dalit politics, life style of the Kond tribe and last but not the least, historiography of Odisha. It is hoped that the book would cater to the academic and inquisitive need of students, scholars and interested readers. (jacket)
