Tribal people are the worst victims of development strategies after independence. Large dams, modern factories and mines have made large number of tribals refugees in their own homeland. It has created a state of confusion and a feeling of growing tribal discontent which are conspiracy-oriented, exploitation-oriented and development-oriented explanations. Language, planning, educational policy, and development strategies could not be geared so as to integrate tribals with the national mainstream. It has resulted into naxalite activities and separatist movements in tribal dominated regions. Hence, there is need to rethink and restructure the development strategy to promote inclusive growth and national integration.
