"The Government of India, with a view to accelerating the pace of development and improving the quality of life of people, has enacted national level policy declarations on science and technology. Besides, a number of national policy--statements have been also adopted at the sectoral levels i.e. education, environment, industry, health, housing, textiles, patents etc to have an impact on the pursuit and performance of S&T in the country. The existence of the nature of the policy declarations and Acts can be taken as an indication of the National commitment of the government for the socio-economic development of the country.
The world has now seen the impact of these national policies of India during the past 3-4 years.
