ITK is the basic component of a country\'s knowledge system and encompasses the skills experiences and insights of people. It is developed and adapted continuously to gradually changing environments and passed down from generation to generation and closely interwoven with people\'s cultural values.
Central Institute of Fisheries Education has taken up this initiative of documenting of ITKs in fisheries through a series of write shops for East Coast, West Coast, North Eastern region and Central and Northern Regions of India. These write shops culminated into the development of resource books for each region. This resource book focuses on ITKs of central and Northern regions of India.
