This book has been designed primarily for the B.Sc. students of Indian Universities, but students pursuing M.Sc. will also find it useful. The first edition of Inorganic Chemistry was published in 2003. This edition has been thoroughly revised, reorganized and some new chapters have been added and others rewritten.

The book is divided into nineteen chapters. The first nine chapters cover the theoretical aspects of Inorganic Chemistry from Atomic Structure, Molecular Symmetry, Chemical Bonding, Inorganic Solids, Coordination Compounds with special emphasis on their spectral and magnetic properties, Acids and Bases, Oxidation and Reduction and also Periodic Properties of Elements. Chapters 10 to 15 are devoted to Inorganic Chemistry of the Elements. Some special topics such as Atomic Nucleus, Organometallic Chemistry, Catalysis, Bioinorganic Chemistry and Inorganic Nanochemistry are included as separate chapters. The book includes sufficient number of solved problems wherever relevant, and also provides a large number of practice problems. It can be used by the teachers as a textbook and also for self-study.
