"Insurance Business has emerged as one of the prominent areas of financial services during recent times particularly in developing economies where it could not grow much prior to globalisation. The pace of growth of insurance sector has accelerated with the process of opening up of such economies to outside world under WTO regime. Insurance performs remarkable functions by insuring the insurable public and property located at different places. The insurance sector provides a vast and discrete scope for a textbook reflecting on its fundamentals and procedural imperatives vis-à-vis the current economic environment in the country. The need for a good textbook on the subject therefore cannot be taken as an exaggerated option in the present times.

"The present book on Insurance—Fundamentals, Environment and Procedures is an attempt to come up to the expectations of those who are roaming for productive and meaningful text on the subject matter. The book has been divided into three parts. First part contains the fundamentals of insurance and has been alienated into ten chapters. The second part is devoted to insurance environment and consists of eight chapters and finally the third part discusses about the procedural aspects of insurance that has been elucidated all the way through three comprehensive chapters. All the chapters have been designed into a consistent manner and all particulars provided in the text are in self-instructional mode." (jacket)
