Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the home to some rare and unique Negrito tribal groups, namely great Andamanese, Onge, Sentinelese and Jarawa. Jarawas are befriended only recently after tiresome efforts initiated since British Colonial Period.

The Jarwas are under arguable transformation. They are passing through the most uncertain period in their history of thousands of years.

The present book on Jarawas is an account based on empirical study by the author working with Andaman tribes for long. A vivid account of Jarawas is presented here under the headings like history, food, material culture, dress and ornaments, route of migration, health and hygiene, habitat, cultural anthroponomy, life cycle rituals, policies and attitudes of rulers, and challenges and threats etc.
