The Book about living ancestral heritage of Bastar region. The study is present megalithic culture of the Gond. Their belief, rituals in relation to the erection of memorial stone in the memory of ancestor is still practice among different Gonds. Ancestor worship is found in almost all culture of the world. Ancestor veneration is based on love and respect for the departed soul. Ancestor worship fosters kinship values, such as filial piety, family loyalty and continuity of the family lineage. The living progeny expresses its love and veneration for its deceased ancestors in many ways. Ancestor worship is also based on the belief that the dead have a continuous existence and have the power to influence the lives of the living, that they bestow their blessing if they are propitiated properly. In Baster region, the people of Bisson horn maria, the Muria, the Raj Gond mostly continued existence in hill and forest environment. The Gond people observed "Math Munda" ceremony. Before the "Math Munda" head of the family calls a meeting of his own clan group or relatives. All the clan and relatives announce that they would help in cash and kind for the said ceremony. The types of memorial pillars raising and erecting in Baster region are Uraskal (stone memorials), Danyakal, Wooden pillar, Painted Memorial, Math (cenotaph). The life and pursuit of the dead person is carved on the wooden pillar.
