The library professionals activities revolve around knowledge management which need new and highly sophisticated tools techniques and devices for effective organisation sharing and wider availability and accessibility in the present digital era necessitated by ever changing nee information and communication technology. Digital resources have outpaced and dominated printed material which are more complex in their organisation.

Present digital age is full of challenges for librarians which demands IT enabled library services competing with the services of Google Yahoo and other such information service provides and to meet the increased and varied information needs of users who are with changed information seeking behaviour in the present digital age. Todays libraries are expected to provide multiplied and improved services not limited to four walls of the institution which have changed the role and functions of librarians and libraries.
