"This book is an account of the author\'s sojourn in Japan as a troupe leader of a 19 Member Manipuri Dancers and percussionists troupes from Manipur for 3 months. He travelled throughout the length and breadth of Japan in a micro-bus, in a Bullet Train and even by a Helicopter and stayed with Japanese families sharing their hearth and home. This way he had the unique opportunity of observing the life style of the Japanese people. During his travel he and his group visited and performed the famed Manipuri Dance and Thang-Ta martial arts not only in big towns and cities, but also in isolated villages and remote Islands in the Pacific Ocean. This travelogue gives a rare insight into the Japanese habits and customs way of life and makes an interesting reading. A must-read book for those who are keen to know about Japan but unable to make a trip to that Land of the Rising Sun." (jacket)
