Land is one of the most essential natural resources for the survival and prosperity of humankind, and it is the platform on which human activities take place. But in today’s world, this land is under intense pressure. The human population is expanding fast around the globe which is increasing the demands on several natural resources. As a result of this significant pressure, degradation of land is taking place and land productivity is reducing. The situation in many countries is not sustainable, even though strenuous efforts have been made to halt this degradation. Resources are being used unabashedly and this is leading to their over-exploitation. This will cause a lack of resources for the future generations and hence their regulated and controlled use in required quantities should be done. Hence, resource management is the need of the hour.
In this bilingual book, an attempt has been made to figure out how proper utilization of land could be done and why is it important to manage the usage of resources so as to preserve them for the upcoming generations. In the 22 chapters, we have discussed about how land degradation is affecting the development in agricultural sector, how land usage can be monitored, how the discovery of different resources and their management affects the mankind and finally what new policies and strategies could be adopted to avert the land from degrading further.
