From the preface: "The topics chosen are grouped into five parts relating to the context in which physical education teachers work, pupil learning in physical education, topical issues relating to the teaching of physical education, and those areas of research that are concerned with understanding physical education teachers, their knowledge, expertise thought processes and sense of self. The final part offers an eye to the future, and raises issues about the values that ill sustain and develop the sports pedagogy research community in order that it might further influence the teaching of PE in schools.
