This book is fifteenth and final volume in the Library in India Series covering Bihar and Jharkhand.

Section-I covers Bihar and Section-II deals with Jharkhand. Under each section an over view of the history, geography, economy, etc. was provided.

History of libraries was given under ancient, medieval modern periods. Library development after independence was discussed in detail. Apart from public libraries, academic libraries school, college and university, special libraries scientific, industrial other business libraries were elaborated.

Other important subjects like library legislation, professional education, library personnel, reference sources on the region, a chronology of important events in the annals of library development, etc. were also presented.

Thus, this work provides a comprehensive account of library situation in the states for the first time.
